“Once upon a time, when women were birds, there was the simple understanding that to sing at dawn and to sing at dusk was to heal the world through joy.” -Terry Tempest Williams
Hello, I’m Sarah. Home for me is a little old farmhouse tucked away in the southern edge of Snowdonia, a place steeped in magic. Our house is surrounded by garden, overgrown and wild when we first arrived, less so now. a continual lesson in letting go of control.
Each autumn and spring, I sow seeds to be planted in soil that has known many hands before mine. Through the year, I tend and gather what the garden offers, to be dried and stored for future projects. By late summer, the house becomes a soft wilderness of flowers, hanging from beams and catching the light as they shift and fade, brushing the top of my partners head.
There’s a real alchemy in the drying process, a transformation that retains it's magic for me, season after season. Petals morph into unexpected shades, seed-heads present endless sculptural possibilities, and the exploration of what dried well and what doesn't is always an exciting one.
Many of the flowers I use are grown here in the Dyfi Valley, gathered from nearby hedgerows, or from my mum’s garden — threads of connection that root this work in the place and people I love.
Along with wreaths and bouquets, I also offer larger installation work, and everlasting farewell flowers. I love all of it, for a variety of reasons, and am grateful to have the opportunity to create with natures bounty.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to creating something beautiful for you.
